Cheer Me On is being built to let you share the moment while staying in control of your information.

This coming-soon website

You don’t need an account to browse this site. Its example challenge is fictional. Sending a practice cheer only changes the page in your browser; it does not send a message, store your choice or track a real person.

We don’t add advertising trackers or analytics to this website. Fonts and images are served with the site. When the site is hosted, its hosting provider may process the technical information needed to deliver and secure it, such as an IP address and request details.

Following a shared challenge

A participant’s working challenge link shows the information they have chosen to share. Sending a cheer or private message sends it to the challenge service. Your optional name and message are visible to the participant, not to other visitors. We keep a random supporter identifier in your browser tab’s session storage to help limit repeated submissions. We don’t save your message text or challenge link in browser storage.

Shared pages refresh while open and hide details when the service cannot confirm access. When the live map is available, Google Maps loads to show the participant’s latest shared position and recent shared trail. The trail contains only points shared while live and clears when sharing pauses or ends. Google receives map coordinates and normal connection information, such as your IP address. The website uses origin-only map authentication and does not send the challenge link, your name or your message to the map. You can also choose to open the position in Google Maps. Donation links open the participant’s chosen provider. These services have their own privacy terms.

The planned app

The following describes the planned product. The full app privacy notice, including service-provider details, retention periods and a privacy contact, will be available before launch.

You choose who gets the link

Challenge pages are unlisted and aren’t part of a public directory. Anyone who has your link can access the page while it’s available, so only share it with people you want to follow your challenge.

Your messages are personal

Supporters’ messages are intended only for the participant. They won’t appear on the public challenge page.

Sharing has an end

You can pause location sharing or remove your location without ending your challenge. Finishing stops location recording and live publication on your device. A completed public snapshot is available for two hours after completion, then the public page expires. Your private result can stay in the app.

If you finish without a connection, the server can’t learn that immediately. The app sends your original completion time when you reconnect; reconnecting does not extend the two-hour window.

Giving happens with your chosen provider

Fundraising links take supporters to an external donation service. That service handles donations under its own privacy terms. Cheer Me On won’t process payments or display donation totals.
